wine red taffeta prom dress w. fitted bodice and pickup skirt by Heather Kendall

I am a plus sized teenager and am using this competition as a chance to advocate for all of the other teens like me.  This is my dream dress and it is for the end of the year formal at my school.  I have never been to a school dance because I am not that kind of girl.  That means that I don’t like most dress styles, frilly, fluffy, pink and flowery are just not my thing.  The dress that I designed is not any of the things that I just described it’s more original.

    Description:

My dress is constructed of a wine red taffeta with a fitted bodice and a pick up skirt.  I think that there should be dense black beading at the bust descending to scarce beading around the waist and hips.  Also at the hips there should be a sharp V where the pickup skirt starts at the bottom of the skirt there should be black tulle sticking out of the hem, the tulle should also stick out the sweetheart neckline.  The skirt will stop at the knees in the front and taper down to below the knee in the back.   The corners of the sweetheart there will be two black satin ribbons in the front and two in the back all meeting at the neck to be tied in two bows at the neck again one in the front and one in the back.  There is boning in throughout the bodice to add support and shape especially for the plus sized women that I designed this dress for.  Finally there is a lace up corset in the back with black satin ribbon, the same ribbon used for the halter neckline, holding it all together.

This is my dream dress and I really feel that it is a great plus sized dress, with the corset for size variation, boning for support and shape, and the pickup skirt to balance out the top half of the body.  I would love to wear this dress to the end of the year farewell dance and really hope that you will help me.

I Heather Kendall verify that this dress is my own design and I do accept the terms and conditions of this contest.
