prom dress design sexy mermaid style by Shannon Crutchfield

My name is Shannon Crutchfield I'm Going to my Senior Prom at JHS this year, and i havent had a clue what to do about my dress. I just can't find one that expresses ME and i that i like. I came upon your website and it was inspiration.

This year our Prom Has a Masquerade theme so i not only need to find a dress but mask and such... it is such a cute theme and my boyfriend and i decided Since i'm a creative soul that we would do masks that expressed our favorite cards and music i am making our masks and we are also going to have Top hats, Him a regular one and me almost like a burlesque one.

So i am incorperating that type of feel into my dress by using the colors Black and white and red. I wanted a Tuxedo dress, but everytime i look for one its not really got any tuxedo feel to it they are all just pretty much black and white dresses i wanted it to be more obvious. so when i designed this i first wanted it to seem like a corsette top hugging me with a nice white satin type ribbed underneath with a bow tie excentuating the Tuxedo feel to it and maybe a row of little black buttons to make it even more obvious, with a dark red lace trim around it and around the back. i wanted both the front and the back to have a revealing type of look to it without making it seem slutty, the white tuxedo influence on the front gives it modesty while making it unique like me.

I wanted the corsette feel to continue to the back where it would dip low and have a criss cross of black satin or lace ribbon to inhance the corsette image, all of which are surrounded by the red lace ribbon.i think it makes it seem sweet yet not innocent with the lace/color combo surrounding it.

The slanted cut of the black satin accentuates the waist line dipping to the knee line is enhanced by the white lace ribbon around it giving it another touch of sweet renisaunce feel, then a dark red satin spilling from the lace also accentuates the waiste line dropping to the floor and wrapping a little around the back, giving way with its white lace trim to a lacy white fabric underneath it seems to give it a classic feel for me, then the black from before that cascaded around from the back to the front again, drops back in to meet where the red with the white lace trim cut in draping down and flowing out to a sweet white lace ruffle at the bottom.

when i saw your contest i just couldn't help myself i did a quick rough sketch of what i really wanted for this years prom dress scaned it in to my computer and submitted it.

i cant help but want to somehow incorperate music notes into it and maybe have the red lace have the hearts diamonds spades and clubs symbols on them to incorperate the card theme my boyfriend and i are putting into our masks but oh well :)

i have no idea of where to put a zipper unless you put a short one on theleft side where the red drops into the dress accentuating the waist maybe???

i would really Love to have my dress picked it would save me the trouble of having to find one and it would be sooo amazing to be able to wear my own design to my last Prom, I hope you like my idea.

Thank you for the opportunity,
Shannon Crutchfield
