Free Prom Dress 2010 Design NE100149 by Emily Hougham
Hey! My name is Emily Hougham. I am a junior at Allatoona High School in Acworth, Georgia and I am applying for the Free Prom Dress of Your Own Design Contest. I was surfing your website when I stumbled upon this contest. A close friend and I were sending pictures back and forth on facebook, trying to find the perfect dress for me for prom. He said that he really liked off the shoulder dresses, and I liked strapless. So I found a way to combine them both to create a beautiful and stunning prom dress. I am on the first prom committee for the first prom of our school and I want to try and make this a prom to remember and remembering prom in a dress that I designed would set it over the top from any dance I have ever attended. This year we have decided that our theme for prom is Midnight Masquerade. I made this dress to take on the look of a sort of Victorian design and put a more modern twist on it.
The design of this dress is a simple A-line with black and primrose pink satin. The main color of the dress is made of black satin. The in-set is primrose pink with black lace over top. The off the shoulder straps are gathered up black lace (the same as the lace on top of the pink satin). The front has shimmering silver beading that trickles down like the rain. The detail that borders the in-set and the bottom of the dress is light pink embroidery (see close up). Inside the embroidery there is more shimmering silver beading. The back of the dress has a corset feel to it. The lacing is light pink. Under the lacing has the primrose satin with black lace on top. I would also like to include black arms length gloves with the same embroidery on them as on the dress.
