Description – My design is a sleek ebony black, halter dress with a train.The upper half of the dress would be completely beaded in strings of small black beads going vertically, which would give it a glimmering look under lights. The bottom portion of the dress would have five tiers of white tulle sewn in an accordion fold style to give the tulle of the dress a wave-like feel. Between the tiers would be a matte black jersey accompanied by the same small, black beads as the top, but going towards the outskirts of the fabric.
I think that the dress has a dark feeling to it but is also very romantic. I feel like a girl wearing this dress should feel confident and be confident because this dress is not an ordinary prom dress, it definitely would catch people’s attention. It almost looks like something a person might have pulled off of a model on a couture runway.
The inspiration behind this dress was a raven’s feathers. I fell in love with the wave a raven’s feathers shine and the sun reflects light on them. I hoped to capture the same look with the beads. The main inspiration for the bottom portion was a dress Taylor Swift wore in her perfume ad, but instead of having the majority of the tulle be together and mostly in the back, I wanted my dress to have layers of tulle, evenly distributed throughout the dress.I chose to design a simple top to the dress because the skirt of the dress was very loud. I feel that the two balance each other out well. :]
