This dress is a light pink and planned to be made in a jersey material. The gown is one-shoulered which has a visual of it wrapping back around to the front where there’s a small triangular cut-out on the side. The back has the strap continuing across the back and to the cutout. In the center of the back, there is another strap coming from the side of the front bodice where it has a strand of gems that clasps with a hook and eye to the shoulder strap. There’s a slit in the front to allow movement and it is a straight, floor length gown. I really like this design because when I started to draw it out i just added or subtracted things to make it something that not only I would wear, but something I could see my peers wearing as well. The design idea came to me as i was drawing it. I sat here drawing things in or erasing things out where after a few short minutes I produced this dress that I looked at when it was finished and I thought to myself that I drew something amazing and I wish it was made immediately for me to try it on. The dress is inspired by red carpet looks that you always see the conservative, sexy, and sophisticated look. I have read all of the Terms and Conditions. I, April Zeller, state that the sketch I am submitting is sketched by myself and the original is in my possesion.

Description: This dress design idea came to me as I thought about the perfect dress. I wanted something unique and different from the other dresses. What makes this dress so different is the side strap that goes across one shoulder and is beaded in brown beads. The rest of the dress would be a nude beige with the bottom being covered in smaller brown beads matching the strap. The beads on the bottom of the dress would be really small and would make the dress sparkle under the nude beige color. The color of this dress would also make it very unique and elegant as many of the dresses are very brightly colored. The dress would be tight-fitted on the top and flow loosely on the bottom. I had made this sketch for myself to become a dress designer one day and create it for myself. However, when I browsed the web I found this great opportunity, I wanted to submit it for this competition.

My design was inspired by the beautiful style of Princess Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. She always wears such elegant and sophisticated dresses and gowns. I wanted to design a prom dress that would be like something she would wear. This prom dress design is made of blue silk jersey. It has a crossover ruched bodice, the right crossing over the left. The back is also ruched, as shown in the sketch. The neckline is v-shaped. Beading and sequin detailing start diagonally above the bust on both sides and go under the arms to the back, where it curves slightly downward in the middle. The back strap at the top curves slightly upward in the middle. The dress has a removable beaded/sequined sash. The beading/sequin detailing on the sash should only be a little bit shorter than the measurement of the waistline; the belt is fastened by tying it into a ribbon. When tied, the ends should be around knee-length. The dress is floor-length, and fastened by an invisible zipper on the left side.

This is a short prom dress, made of chiffon and lace. The color is wine red/cranberry red, a shade that can match all skin tones. The front bodice is made up of chiffon that is ruched horizontally. The back of the bodice is made up of two parts: the top part is lace(there is no lining in this part), and the the lower part is made of chiffon, also ruched horizontally. There are two staps on each shoulder. The outer straps, which are ruched vertically, are normal straps. The inner ones cross, right over left, at the middle on top of the bust and travel to opposite sides below the bust. The skirt is made up of alternating chiffon and lace material. There are 7 lace gores, each starting out at the waist. Two are in the front, two are relatively at the sides and three are at the back. The gores should be evenly separated by the gathered chiffon in between. The lining of the dress should be the same color as both fabric. The dress ends around 2 inches above the knee-line. The dress is fastened by an invisible zipper on the left side.

SARAH WALTONS DESIGNS Four of my dress designs1. The Show Stopper: this dress was made for the red carpet Queens to the prom Queens. Nature and all of her beautyinspired this dress. The dress would be made out of taffeta with gold embroidery down every peace to give it an eleganttouch. The embroidery on the top half is made to look like a leaf pattern with two smaller leaves at the waist. The bottom half is meant tolook like flower pedals. I chose two different colors for the bottom because it makes the pieces of individual material stand out.I chose black and gold for the top because they aren’t colors youwould normally associate with a flowery dress. So they end up giving the dress a sheik quality. The drop waistline is pointed and atan angle because it gives the dress a certain kind of flow and it also makes the top half look a little more leaf like.

New Time, this dress is a new kind of look for a new kind of time. It’s a strong look but with some soft elements. It’s made for the kind of girl who wants to stand out from the crowd and doesn’t care if she’s different.
The corset going from the top of the dress all the way down to just below the knee screams new and different and the color is what I’d like to call a new kind of rainbow. With neon yellow, pure silver, ragging red, dark purple and pitch black, this dress is destined for greatness. The straps of the dress are made to look like it was a one-shouldered dress with two other straps added just because it made the dress look a little more fun and playful. The bottom of the dress puffs out right below the knee to give it a little extra flare.

Simple Glamour, this dress is the simplest out of the four designs that I’m sending you. It’s very much of a girly girl dress with a small twist. It has a vibrant pink with hot pink twisted on top, the silver on bottom gives this dress a little more flare and the glitter on the very bottom of the skirt adds a small shimmer of glamour to it.
The rips in the skirt give it a unique quality all of its own. The top of the dress is a sweet hart neck line with hundreds of strings twisted around it all the way down to the waistline. As you can see there is hot pink lining the inside of the skirt to make it look like it just pops out from behind the rips in the skirt.

Crazy Gorgeous, This dress is the craziest dress I’ve ever designed. It has a lot of color and shine; it will be eye catching with all the crystal beads. The way the skirt is going to hold its shape is by bamboo silhouette on the inside of the material. My inspiration for this dress was a candy store with all of its colors.
What caught my eye was the rock candy, the way it looked tied on a string and all the beautiful colors it came in. So I came up with a dress that has colorful crystals sown on it and colors streaming from it. The top of the dress is a sweet hart neckline on a buttoned up corset with crystal buttons to mach the skirt and gold glittery sleeves to bring up the color.
The bottom of the dress is covered completely with crystal beads and split right down the middle, it looks like it is only held on by a butterfly broach but its not. It’s sown to the corset that goes all the way down to just above the knee. On the in side of the skirt is a rainbow of colors and the flaps of the skirt are pined up so the colors can show through from underneath.

I titled my dress “Ballet Butterfly” because the neckline and flaps of material on the skirt resemble a butterfly, and the dress is much like a ballet tutu. The main part of the dress is a silky blue material, embellished with dark purple sequins, and light purple sequins on the neckline. The white layer underneath shows multiple layers of a thin mesh material, such as tulle. At last, the dress has a silky purple bow around the waist to add to the feminine charm.I’ve seen many expensive prom dresses, and I thought that many just weren’t unique enough for me. If I were a dress designer, I would make a collection based on life and “animal instincts.” That’s where this butterfly idea comes from. The colors white and blue represents purity and freedom, like a butterfly. The color purple adds some edge to take away from the design’s innocence. As you can see, I very much believe in incorporating femininity, edge, and origin when it comes to designing dresses, and I believe you will enjoy my design.
